EDMONTON — City planners have started a major review of Edmonton’s parking policies.
In a report to city council presented Thursday, they suggested the city consider limiting the number of parking spaces developers can build outside the downtown core, to reduce excessive surface parking and encourage people to take transit.
They also suggested the city look into creating shared-use parking requirements that will allow, say, a shopping centre and a movie theatre to share parking space, since customers come at different times of the day.
