Good morning,
As you are aware, a station area plan is being prepared for McKernan and Belgravia neighbourhoods. This plan will determine the location and design of future transit-oriented land uses such as housing, employment and retail as well as supportive infrastructure such as streets and parks.
Where an initial workshop was held on November 22, 2011 to introduce the McKernan/Belgravia station area and planning process, a second workshop held on March 20, 2012 presented a set of design options for the plan. A number of people in the community attended these events, emailed, phoned and wrote us about key issues, opportunities, concerns, areas of potential change, and envisioned improvements or intiatives. Please note that we have now set a date for the third Public Open House Workshop and notices are in the process of being formally mailed out in the coming days. In the meantime, please note:
MCKERNAN/BELGRAVIA STATION AREA PLAN PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE WORKSHOP #3
Date and Time:
Thursday, November 8th, from 6:00– 9:00 pm (Presentations will be held at 6:30 and 8:00 pm).
Location:
University of Alberta (Main Campus), Lister Centre (116 Street – 87 Avenue) in the Wildrose Room (2nd Floor, 003). Due to scheduling, availability and needs, we were unable to secure McKernan School.
Purpose:
The purpose of this meeting will be to present a draft of the proposed McKernan/Belgravia Station Area Plan and to seek input from you and other community members regarding it. City representatives and the consultant team will present the preferred vision, design principles, and development concept for the station area based on previous stakeholder input. We encourage you to attend and provide us with any additional feedback you may have to further inform and help finalize the McKernan/Belgravia Station Area Plan. Please note that we are currently in the process of updating our project webpage and will provide additional information as we get closer to the November 8th meeting date here: http://www.edmonton.ca/city_government/urban_planning_and_design/mckernan-belgravia-station-area-plan.aspx
Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the upcoming meeting, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Thank you and I hope to see you November 8th.
Sincerely,
Michael
